    ABOUT ME

WRITER / ACTRESS / SOUTHERN GIRL

I've been an actress for over 30 years in film, television, stage, commercials and voice-overs. But the truth is, writing was always my first love.

A southern girl, raised in New Orleans, I come from a long line of dreamers, storytellers, and men who weep.

Am an ill-equipped wife, an enraptured parent, a great kisser and even better cook.

Currently finishing 2 novels. BIG DADDY'S KNEE, set in 1969 Louisiana.

And, SHATTERED DOLL, a New Adult novel series, based on the Miss Parker character from the 90's tv series, The Pretender.

It chronicles her college age years in Operative School.

I like to think of the essays on these pages as snapshots. Some are in sharper focus than others.

I intend to be a published novelist when I grow up. In the meantime, I live in Los Angeles with the kid.

He tells me he didn’t fall out of his bedwetter. “Everybody keeps trying to say I fell out of my bedwetter! That’s not what happened.” No. Of course not. Never mind that we found him in a heap at the foot of the bed. My baloney wrapper salesman says that the tru...

I think I might explode. Or break into a million pieces. Leave a huge mess for my kid to struggle with for the rest of his days. I was going to be so much better than my mother. So much cooler, wiser, truer. I was going to be an amazing woman that a child would ad...

    Can't You See?

    April 12, 2014

I had sweet pizza and vegan fettuccine sent to the address on Essex Avenue. The street alone sounded Yankee. Essex Avenue. How had a Russian jew from Lexington, KY ended up on that street? I’d seen the Ben Franklin photo of her hair, bald on top, long on the sides. The...

    To Forgive Divine?

    March 31, 2014

For sure, to err is human. It's part of what makes us humans beautiful. Our imperfect natures. It’s how we learn. Hand in fire, get burned, won’t do that again. But then there are all those other errs. Errors. F*ck ups. Misdeeds. Those are also human. But I have to qu...

    Last Night

    February 24, 2012

It’s Dad’s last night in our house. The last one ever. He can’t climb the stairs at our new home so this is it. He’ll move to my brother’s in the San Fernando Valley and then we’ll put him in a dementia care place and then he’ll die. Everybody thinks I should be c...
