Katie Mitchell
Writer, Essayist, Storyteller
About
Katie Mitchell is a writer and essayist raised in New Orleans, which means she comes from a long line of dreamers, storytellers, and men who weep. After thirty years as an actress — television, commercials, voice-overs, the full catastrophe — she turned her attention to what she wanted to do all along. For this career choice, she blames Helen Keller. But that is a story for another time. Her personal essays explore motherhood, loss, marriage, and the particular comedy of surviving your own life. Her work has appeared in Deliver Me: True Confessions of Motherhood, On The Bus, Method Writers Speak, and in Literally Literary, P.S. I Love You, the Café, Intimately Intimate, and Other Voices on Medium. She is completing her first novel and lives in Los Angeles, near the kid.
